THE SWEET FRUIT OF SUMMER, watermelon, never fails to impress on a hot day. It is a staple at every table for breakfast. A lot of people don’t know how nutritious this fruit is, assuming it’s just sugar and salt. Watermelon contains more lycopene than many of the other fresh fruit or vegetables – between 15 to 20 milligrams per two cups of melon! Lycopene is the rosy red color of the melon and has been related to a lower risk of cancer, particularly prostate cancer. Watermelon is also a rich source of vitamin A and C, a great source of vitamin B6, and, of course, contains water for hydration. 1.Watermelon- Strawberry Smoothie
1 ½ cups seedless watermelon
1 cup lemon juice
8 frozen strawberries
Place all ingredients in a blender.
Blend until smooth and indulge in the flavours.
2. Fancy ice cubes:
Freeze a finely chopped watermelon with a small amount of water and mint in ice cube trays for a refreshing and stylish addition to iced tea. You can just add them in water, give it a stir, and voila you are up for a refreshment ride.
3. Super easy & refreshing salad:
Chop the watermelon into eatable pieces and remove the seeds. Once the watermelon has been chopped, put it in a serving bowl with sliced cucumber, chunks of feta, mint, and basil. Squeeze in a little lime juice, drizzle with some olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Toss it all together, and that’s all there is to it! Easy, refreshing and it goes well with any grilled protein.
